Supplementary Resources in the Elementary Classroom

I was recently invited to teach a short supplementary music course for upper graders at my son's elementary school.  As a former general music teacher, it was a joy for me to re-experience the delight of children as they explore classroom rhythm instruments and discover the variety of sounds that can be created.  Their enchantment with "making" thunderstorms, adding sound effects to books and music, and finally playing songs and chords with tone chimes, was electric.  They were thrilled to be successfully making music and expressing their creative ideas through sound.

Classroom music is an extraordinary place where children of all ability levels are free to learn about and discover the joys of music making.  Who knows what sparks may be ignited by their musical experiences there?  One thing is certain, the music classroom is an ideal setting for children to express their creativity, discover, grow, and shine.  Those are the objectives that are encouraged and developed by the engaging lesson plans, ideas and activities you'll find in Alfred's classroom and early childhood books.

We hope you will explore the variety of creative teaching resources Alfred has to offer for general music and early childhood classrooms.  And we at Alfred thank you for your dedication to your students and continued commitment to excellence in music education.
