Susan L. Smith, Curriculum Development Team Leader
An experienced educator in the Virginia public school system who has taught privately and was an adjunct professor at Troy State University in Alabama. She is affiliated with The National Association for Music Education (MENC) and the Florida Music Educators Association.


Robert W. Smith, Curriculum Development Team Leader
Conductor, clinician and performer. One of the most popular and prolific composers of concert band and orchestral literature in America today, with more than 400 compositions to his credit. His compositions and arrangements have been used in a variety of situations, from opening day at Dodger Stadium to the Olympic Games.

Judy Stoehr
Judy Stoehr is founder and owner of JUDY STOEHR CREATIVE INSIGHTS. She is an author, composer and recording artist, as well as an international keynote speaker and presenter. Judy presents speeches, and seminars on a wide variety of topics including curriculum, assessment, differentiated instruction, integrating multi-media and best practices, and motivating at-risk students. She has presented at numerous National, Regional, and State MENC conferences including shared sessions with Bob McGrath from Sesame Street. In addition, Judy has worked with several well-known companies and recording artists such as the Zenith Corporation and Mannheim Steamroller.

Dr. Darla S. Hanley 
Dr. Darla S. Hanley is an Associate Professor of Music Education and Chair of the Graduate Division of Music Education at Shenandoah Conservatory of Shenandoah University. She is also the Director of the Shenandoah Singers, a vocal jazz/show choir. Dr. Hanley received a Ph.D. and M.M. in Music Education Research from Temple University, and a B.M. in Music Education/Vocal Performance from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell. In addition to being an active clinician and author, Dr. Hanley is a reviewer for Parent's Guide to Children's Media and she served on the committee to revise the Virginia Standards of Learning for Music.

Timothy S. Brophy
Timothy S. Brophy is an assistant professor of music education at the University of Florida in Gainesville. He is a 1996 Ashland Teacher Achievement Award recipient, a 1998 Disney American Teacher Award honoree, and a 1999 Memphis Rotary Award winner. He has published numerous articles, two books, and is assessment author for the Warner Bros. Publications music series Music Expressions. He is currently serving as editor of the journal Research Perspectives in Music Education, and is Chair of the Florida Music Assessment Task Force.

June Hinckley
June Hinckley was the President of MENC: The National Association for Music Education from 1998 to 2000. She also served on the writing team for the 1994 National Standards for Music Education. As MENC President, Hinckley conceived and initiated Vision 2020: The Housewright Symposium on the Future of Music Education. This effort has been credited with providing a blueprint for music education into the 21st Century. Most recently, Hinckley was the Music and Fine Arts Curriculum Specialist for the Florida Department of Education, Hinckley's responsibilities included providing leadership for arts education for the 3,500 schools and developing programs to foster excellence in the quality and quantity of arts instruction in Florida schools.

Carolyn Minear
Program coordinator, Music K-12, for Orange County Public Schools in Orlando, Florida, one of the largest and most diverse public school districts in the nation. Here, she helps coordinate curriculum and instruction for over 250 music educators in more than 150 schools. She is President of the Florida Music Educators Association and conducts the Orlando Children's Chorus. She is an active clinician, adjudicator and conductor.
