Sounds of Spring
By Betty Lea Martocchio
Flowing, melodic lines and a simple bass line recreate the feeling of a beautiful spring day. Written in C major and 3/4 meter, this piece includes recurring eighth-note patterns, subtle dynamic contrasts, and basic dotted rhythms. These elements, combined with simple pedaling, create a satisfying piece that intermediate students will enjoy playing. A distinct middle section allows the right hand to use harmonic intervals as the melody, with frequent accidentals in the left hand for diversity.
