LOS ANGELES, CA  -  Wednesday, February 03, 2010

Two Alfred products, Sound Innovations , and Alfred's Essentials of Music Theory, and three distributed brands, Daisy Rock Girl Guitars, Mighty Bright, and TASCAM, have been selected for the prestigious industry "Best in Show" honor and the new "Best Tools for School" award at the 2010 Winter NAMM convention.

Winning both awards, Alfred's revolutionary new band and string method, Sound Innovations, written by renowned music educators Robert Sheldon, Bob Phillips, Peter Boonshaft, and Dave Black, Sound Innovations is a giant leap forward in band and orchestra methods. Starting in the spring of 2010, Sound Innovations will be available in a Standard Edition as well as a customizable Director’s Choice Edition (DC). DC uses unprecedented technology to offer choices in pedagogy, tunes, and enrichment materials based on teachers’ unique preferences as well as the ability to customize text on the cover and front pages of the book.

DC books are created and ordered by the teacher online and shipped directly to the school. Teachers can create and save multiple methods in their account and they will eventually be able to share their methods with other teachers online, offering a means for collaboration with colleagues worldwide.

Each book includes instrument-specific MP3 recordings of every line in the book and an instrument-specific master class DVD with renowned instructors and performers. The first 100 lines of music (more than half of the lines in Book 1) are included for free on SmartMusic.

The "Best in Show" awards, a long-standing honor at NAMM, are hosted by NAMM University and Music, Inc. magazine and are selected by a panel of industry judges. Alfred's partners in distribution Daisy Rock Girl Guitars, Mighty Bright, and TASCAM were also awarded "Best in Show" honors.

Daisy Rock Girl Guitars, the original girl-guitar company, celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. During the last decade, Daisy Rock has helped over 150,000 girls play guitar.
