Alfred Music Adds New Titles to its Vocal Catalog

LOS ANGELES, CA  -  Friday, May 10, 2013
Alfred Music announces the release of new vocal titles to its catalog Contemporary Art Songs for Men, The Best of Pathways of Song, and Songs of the British Isles for Solo Singers.

Contemporary Art Songs for Men offers 10 exquisite text settings for male voices of any age, featuring classic poetry. This unique book offers each piece in both treble and bass clefs, high and low keys, appropriate for the mature recital singer, as well as the newly-changed voice.

The Best of Pathways of Song offers 49 exceptional vocal solos, all favorites from the four previous volumes. The entire Pathways of Song series offers a wide variety of concert repertoire in appropriate vocal ranges by composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach, Edvard Grieg, G. F. Handel, Joseph Haydn, Robert Schubert, Franz Shumann, and Richard Strauss. The series includes English translations where needed.

The songs of the British Isles—England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales—are among the most expressive and enjoyable to sing in Western music. The 11 songs selected for Songs of the British Isles for Solo Singers, including favorites such as “Danny Boy,” “The Water is Wide (O Waly, Waly),” and Greensleaves, are ideal for both the beginning soloist and the more skilled singer. Included are ballads, love songs, folk songs, and two Christmas carols. To aid the singer with artistic interpretation, helpful historical information and translation for unfamiliar terms are available throughout the songbook.

As part of Alfred’s ongoing commitment to improving the environment, Contemporary Art Songs for Men and Songs of the British Isles for Solo Singers are printed on 100% recycled paper.

Contemporary Art Songs for Men, The Best Pathways of Song, and Songs of the British Isles for Solo Singers and their accompaniment CDs are now available for $15.99-$36.99 at music retail stores and at alfred.com.
