The leader in educational music publishing releases the The Articulate Jazz Musician, method, from the award-winning jazz educator Caleb Chapman and multi-Grammy®-winning saxophonist Jeff Coffin. Step-by-step, the method details Caleb's proven techniques for mastering the fundamentals of jazz.

The Articulate Jazz Musician is a unique approach to effective jazz playing, with 14 exciting and original compositions by Coffin. The 17-unit method is carefully designed to reinforce key concepts like articulation, phrasing, and interpretation. Available for C, B-flat, E-flat, and bass clef instruments plus piano, guitar, bass, and drums along with a teacher’s edition, the method is designed to be used with an ensemble, in private lessons, or in a classroom setting. Each book includes a CD that has both demo and play-along tracks, featuring a world-class quartet of Jeff Coffin (tenor saxophone), Victor Wooten (bass), Roy “Futureman” Wooten (drums), and Chris Walters (piano). Additionally, comping parts for the play-along tracks are included for piano, guitar, bass, and drums.

The student books include clear-cut examples of jazz articulation syllables, and write-in space to help students retain understanding. The teacher’s book includes all the student information, plus answer keys and additional teaching suggestions.

As part of Alfred’s ongoing commitment to improving the environment, these books are printed on 100% recycled paper.

The Articulate Jazz Musician method books are now available for $14.99-$16.99 each at music retail stores and at alfred.com.
