Diana Krall Releases Glad Rag Doll Songbook through Alfred Music Publishing

LOS ANGELES, CA  -  Thursday, December 13, 2012
As the official music publisher of thousands of popular artists, songwriters, and composers, Alfred releases Diana Krall: Glad Rag Doll, the official piano sheet music companion to the jazz vocalist’s 11th studio album. Inspired by the old 78rpm records that filled Krall’s childhood home, the melodic 1920s- and '30s-era songs of Glad Rag Doll are naturally enjoyable at the keys, as are the songs from later eras, like "Lonely Avenue" and "Wide River to Cross." Complete with vocal melodies, lyrics, and chords, the songbook gives fans the chance to recreate their favorite songs from the album.

Krall worked with renowned producer T. Bone Burnett and engineer Mike Piersante on Glad Rag Doll, which peaked at No. 1 on Billboard’s “Jazz Albums” chart. The album, which Krall refers to as “a song and dance record,” combines new sounds, new instrumentation, and new musicians. “The album works well as a whole,” said Eric Luecking of American Songwriter. “Krall never seems out of place even as she takes chances in a space that could have left her sounding overwhelmed.”

Diana Krall is a Canadian singer-songwriter and pianist. With her pre-bop piano style and smooth vocals, Krall emerged her music in the jazz world in the late '90s, building an outstanding career ever since. In just a few years since her debut, she was firmly established as one of the biggest sellers in jazz. She is the recipient of several Juno and Grammy® awards, including “Best Jazz Vocal Album” for When I Look in Your Eyes and Live in Paris.

As part of Alfred’s ongoing commitment to improving the environment, this book is printed on 100% recycled paper.

Diana Krall: Glad Rag Doll (00-40535) is now available for $19.99 at music retail stores and at alfred.com.
