Alfred Music Publishing, the world leader in educational print music publishing since 1922, donated Van Halen songbooks to the Garfield High School music department yesterday to complement the recent electric guitars donation made by the Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation on behalf of Eddie Van Halen.
Los Angeles-based Garfield High School, known for its award-winning marching band, recently launched two beginning guitar classes. The students in the course still lack some cables and several amps necessary to play in a group setting, which are currently not in the school’s budget.
“The lack of equipment has not quelled the excitement of the students,” expressed the school’s Music Director, Eloy Adame, who took delivery of the books. “And with Alfred’s recent Van Halen songbook donation, they are yet again filled with enthusiasm! Method and supplement books from Alfred are staple publications here in Garfield’s music department. The Van Halen songbooks are a welcome addition to our curriculum and performance repertoire—we’re already putting them to good use. Thanks, Alfred Music Publishing!”
