Alfred Music Publishing, the world leader in educational print music since 1922, releases Piece by Piece, Book 3
, the latest addition to the popular piano series featuring seven late-intermediate color pieces for solo piano, by Tom Gerou.
The original piano solos in Piece by Piece, Book 3 were created to afford the student the opportunity to explore a variety of styles, techniques, and textures. Concepts include wide-range melodic contours, finger crossings, broken chords with diminished arpeggios, grace notes, left-hand stride technique, keeping sound balance and tonality, and more. Students are exposed to these concepts via a wide range of musical genres that include ragtime, waltz, toccata, and more.
Author of the Piece by Piece series, Tom Gerou, enjoys creating motivational pieces that foster a student’s understanding and love for music. Gerou offers a helpful foreword per each book in the series that explains each solo’s unique teaching technique.
Book 1 contains eight early-intermediate original color pieces that are intended to encourage the understanding of music and piano playing though a variety of techniques. Book 2 contains seven intermediate original color pieces that elaborate on the techniques learned in Book 1, and includes solos in various styles such as tango, baroque, samba, and jazz.
