Alfred Music Publishing, home to the largest percussion print catalog in the world, releases Daily Drumset Workout
,a day-to-day guide to better drumming for drummers of all genres, by the internationally renowned and in-demand drum coach, clinician, and author, Claus Hessler.
Daily Drumset Workout is a comprehensive, 224-page publication intended to teach everything a contemporary drummer needs to be able to play right away. Topics include basic independence, accents, single and double strokes, inverted doubles, buzz rolls, flams, and much more. The author teaches new rhythmic skills that facilitate greater security and musical freedom. Each groove, style, and tempo – using dynamics from very soft to very loud – is practiced in a daily routine. Through this technique, the player’s response to the rhythmic grooves and patterns becomes automatic, allowing greater concentration on the musical aspects of modern drumming. The exercises are written with straight 8th/16th notes and triplet-based rhythms in various styles such as rock, pop, funk, Latin, jazz, and Afro-Cuban.
The constant and ritualized practice presented in the book is designed to advance skills at the drumset and help develop key competences like endurance, discipline, structured thinking, and ear-training, all while giving drummers the space and time to develop musical personality as well. Each exercise also includes practice tips and a self-evaluation practice chart. Every lesson has a jam track on the included MP3 CD and enables students to practice every exercise in every style within three different tempos.
The preface was written by Dom Famularo, drummer educator, author, and Drumming’s Global Ambassador, who shares: “This book is your personal drumming coach to take you step-by-step and feel your ideas come alive."
Alfred also publishes Claus Hessler’s Open-Handed Playing, Volumes 1 and 2 drum titles.
