nominations honoring his original music scores in The Adventures of Tintin
and War Horse
films. With the recent nominations, Williams now holds a record 47 Oscar nods making him the most-nominated living person in academy history—second only to Walt Disney’s 59 nominations.
John Williams has penned some of the most recognizable and beloved film scores in the history of motion pictures, including Jaws, Star Wars®, Raiders of the Lost Ark, E. T. the Extra-Terrestrial, as well as several of the Harry Potter films to name a few. Other 2012 Oscar nods in the Music (Original Score) category include Ludovic Bource (The Artist), Howard Shore (Hugo), and Alberto Iglesias (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy). Williams was formerly tied with Alfred Newman at 45 nominations. The 84th Academy Awards® winners will be announced Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012, from Hollywood's Kodak Theatre, broadcast live on ABC network.
