LOS ANGELES, CA  -  Tuesday, February 14, 2012
Alfred Music Publishing, the official print publisher of thousands of popular artists, congratulates the winners of the 2012 Grammy® Awards, including Lady Antebellum, Tony Bennett, The Book of Mormon original Broadway cast, producers, and writers; Gordon Goodwin, and Laura Story. Alfred honors the accomplishments of these artists and takes great pride in producing top quality licensed products for the enjoyment of their fans that play musical instruments.

Lady Antebellum, the hit country group out of Nashville, is a multi-award winning band with their recent Grammy Award win for “Best Country Album” (Own the Night). The group has gained much success since their self-titled debut album in 2008, which is now certified Platinum in the U.S. To date, the group has won seven Grammy Awards, including “Song of the Year” and “Record of the Year” for their crossover hit "Need You Now.” Alfred offers the officially licensed songbook to the Grammy-winning album, Own The Night, including over a dozen other sheet music editions and arrangements

With millions of albums sold world-wide, Tony Bennett is one of a handful of artists to have albums charting every decade since the ‘50s and on through the new millennium. Alfred offers a wide-range of his sheet music, including his latest album Tony Bennett: Duets II, which won this year’s “Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album.” He also won “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance” for his acclaimed collaboration with Amy Winehouse on “Body and Soul.” Over the span of his career, he has received 15 Grammy Awards, including the 1995 award for “Album of the Year” the “Lifetime Award,” and two others for his signature song “I Left My Heart in San Francisco.”

The Book of Mormon musical is a religious satire about comically mismatched missionaries and their expedition into an impoverished, diseased, and warlord ravaged town in Uganda. Last year, the musical raked in the most Tony wins—nine total—including “Best Musical,” ”Best Book of a Musical,” “Best Original Score (Music and/or Lyrics) Written for the Theatre,” and more. Last night, the hilarious Broadway blockbuster was the recipient of this year’s “Best Musical Theater Album” award. Alfred offers sheet music to The Book of Mormon, arranged for piano and vocal, with music written by Tony award-winning and acclaimed Broadway composer Robert Lopez, with South Park co-creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone.

Gordon Goodwin is an American studio pianist, saxophonist, composer, arranger and band leader. Best known for his work with his supergroup, The Big Phat Band, Goodwin won this year’s “Best Instrumental Arrangement” for the unique rendition of “Rhapsody in Blue.” To date, The Big Phat Band has released five albums, including Swingin' for the Fences which received two Grammy nominations in 2002, and XXL which received three in 2005. Alfred carries several jazz ensemble and solo sheet music arrangements of Goodwin’s work, including Maynard & Waynard, That’s How We Roll, and High Maintenance.

Laura Story, one of today’s chart-topping Christian recording artists, was honored with this year’s award for “Best Contemporary Christian Song” for her composition “Blessings,” a featured piece in Alfred’s debut Contemporary Christian songbook, 40 Sheet Music Best Sellers: Christian Hits. Alfred also carries a choral arrangement for her previous worship hit Indescribable, written in 2004. Her 2008 national debut won a Dove® Award for “Inspirational Album” and earned Laura two consecutive nominations for “Female Vocalist of the Year.” She has also done work in music and women’s ministry at the 4,000-member Perimeter Church in Atlanta.
