Alfred Music Publishing Band, Orchestra, and Vocal Titles Selected for Texas UIL 2011 Prescribed Music List

Alfred Music Publishing, world leader in educational print music publishing since 1922, is proud to announce the inclusion of 70 premier band, orchestra, and vocal titles onto the 2011 Prescribed Music List by the University Interscholastic League, provider and sponsor of educational extracurricular contests for the state of Texas. Designed to support and enrich music education, the UIL music program benefits approximately a half million middle school, junior high, and high school students who participate in its music events in the state of Texas annually.
The UIL has selected 70 new Alfred titles to add onto the cumulative Prescribed Music List used by educators and directors across the state of Texas as the repertoire guide for performance and contest selections.

The Texas UIL is the largest inter-school organization of its kind in the world designed to support and enrich the teaching of music as an integral component of the public school curriculum. Each year, 10 interscholastic music events are held by the UIL music program that endeavor to challenge, motivate, and inspire young musicians beyond the classroom setting. Additionally, the UIL provides leadership and guidance to public school debate and athletic teachers, administered by school people on a fair and equitable basis.
