The Creative Composition Toolbox, Books 1-3 is a series designed to open the world of music to piano students. The books are compatible with any piano method and reinforce essential theory skills throughout. Materials can be taught in private and group lessons, and is perfect for piano camps. Each book in the series features 10 composition tools in a two-page format: On the first page, a composition tool is introduced with a performance piece that utilizes the tool; on the second page, an original composition is assigned based on the composition tool.
Book 1, early-elementary level, features the following composition tools: range, damper pedal, dynamics, tempo, melody, harmony, repeated patterns, conversations, meter, and grand staff.
Book 2, elementary-level, features the following composition tools: intervals; questions and answers; 8va and 15ma; flats, sharps, and naturals; major and minor pentatonic scales; major and minor harmonic scales; accents and staccato; ritardando and a tempo; motif; binary, ternary, and rondo forms.
Book 3, late-elementary level, features the following composition tools: eighth notes, syncopation, sequences, phrasing, crescendo and diminuendo, musical high point, primary chords, pandiatonicism, upbeats and downbeats, and song lyrics.
