LOS ANGELES, CA  -  Friday, December 03, 2010

Alfred Music Publishing, the leader in educational music publishing since 1922, is the winner of Musical Merchandise Review’s 2010 Dealers' Choice award for “Best Website of the Year.”

Revamped in 2009, was redesigned to create a more user-friendly experience to browse and shop for print music titles. The site is modeled after a variety of successful e-commerce websites, and utilizes the online sales facilitator Shopatron to allow customers to order directly from dealers online.

“Alfred Publishing fields a streamlined, easy to navigate, interactive and highly functional website,” as mentioned by Musical Merchandise Review. “But, according to voters, what set apart from the competition in 2010 was the newly added Sound Innovations feature [at], which allows music instructors to fully customize their own method to create educational literature unique to their programs and classes.”

“We’re honored to receive this award, and proud to make the top-rated destination for sheet music,” said Ron Manus, Alfred’s CEO. “In developing the Sound Innovations page, it has been our mission to give music educators the most cutting-edge tools to do what they do best—inspiring tomorrow’s musicians the way they want to.”

Sound Innovations for Concert Band and Sound Innovations for String Orchestra, launched in 2010, are two revolutionary new methods that combine time-tested educational concepts, input from thousands of teachers, advances in modern technology, and solid pedagogy that follows state and national music education standards.

The methods are available in a Standard Edition and the Director's Choice Edition, which uses a brand-new patented technology that combines a solid foundation of pedagogy with the flexibility to customize elements of the book such as technique, tunes, and enrichment pages, based on what works best with their unique classroom.
