full-time regular, non-exempt. Position is located in Van Nuys, California.
DEFINITION
Under direct supervision, reporting to the VP, Production, School/Church Team, and in collaboration with the product-line team, works to produce graphic design for book covers and interiors, promotional materials, and other production needs as assigned.

CORE DUTIES

Depending on assignment, core duties include (but are not limited to) the following:

• Assists VP,Production, and Editors to create visual designs and art concepts conducive to market and / or project goals; project types include book covers and interiors, templated performance notes and cd labels, brochures, print ads, catalogs, direct-mail collateral, signage and general production as necessary.

• Organizes and produces print-ready digital mechanicals and comps for assigned work according to specifications, using company software applications.

• Produces work product in a timely fashion and meets deadlines.

• Maintains and archives production files according to company procedures and standards.

• Tracks project cost and / or time to ensure assignment is kept within budgetary guidelines.

• Negotiates fees with outside vendors and resources as necessary.

• Assists in other areas or with other duties as required.


PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE OF: graphic design experience equivalent to that acquired through BA or BFA in relevant field and a minimum three years professional experience in graphic design; Mac system software OSX and graphic design software including InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop; printing and its processes; file management concepts; desirable––Acrobat and Word.

ABILITY TO: understand goal of each assignment and its requirements, both conceptually and technically; collaborate well with diverse personalities under time constraints to meet production goals; organize information (including others with whom they work, as well as own time / schedule); be detail oriented, conscientious, resourceful and reliable; handle multiple assignments; learn new skills with respect to graphic design and related technical advancements; discern areas for improvement in the production process and communicate those ideas. Ability to remain stationary at workstation operating computer equipment for several hours at a time and to discern electronic communication and images regularly.
