Steven H. Brook has been a member of the Grand Rapids Symphony (Michigan) since 1979. Originally hired as a violist, he currently holds the position of Assistant Principal Second Violin. He also serves as the First Violinist of the Symphony’s Ars Nova String Quintet, an educational ensemble. As a founding member of the Fontana Ensemble, he served as their Violist from 1979–1989. More recently, he has been in high demand as a performer for his unique blend of music, story, and humor. His production of “The Wizard of OZ” has received high acclaim. Additionally, he has teamed up with pianist Rich Ridenour as Classical Gas for a national tour. Mr. Brook has performed in several different countries on three continents, as well as in the U.P.
In addition to performing, he has taught violin and viola as adjunct faculty at Calvin College and Cornerstone University. Since 2001, he has been serving as a Para-professional with the Jenison Public Schools orchestra program.
