Sara Bongo holds a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from the renowned Crane School of Music at the State University of New York at Potsdam, and a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies from State University of New York at Stony Brook. She taught elementary strings for the Three Village School District on the north shore of Long Island for 34 years and also directed the Summer Instrumental Program for sixteen years for that district.
Upon retiring, she developed a passion for creating music and studied musical composition with Robert Moore. She also played cello with the Tampa Bay Symphony. She currently balances her time among several interests including musical composition. Based upon her own teaching experiences, Sara Bongo writes music to fulfill the need for greater diversity in the selection of music for elementary and junior high orchestral programs.
