Nancy Lau (pronounced "Law") has often been told that her compositions sound very lyrical and natural. She discovered her love and talent for music early in life. Born with "perfect pitch," at age four, Nancy was able to play nursery rhymes on the piano by ear and soon was creating her own arrangements of songs.
In 1990, she began her study of composition with Dr. Norman Weston at Saddleback College in Orange County, California. While there, Nancy studied music composition with Dr. Weston and piano pedagogy with Nakyong Chai. She has also studied songwriting.
Nancy has written music for children, incidental theatre music, orchestral music, choral works, chamber works, and piano music. Her compositions have won several awards. Her most recent piano work for Alfred Music Publishing is The World at Your Fingertips, Book 1, which she co-authored with Deborah Brener. Nancy also operates a busy teaching studio with piano students who regularly perform her music.
