Michael Hurley's musical experience is varied and eclectic, and it all started with playing the organ in church at the age of 16. He later performed in folk music groups in high school and college, including the recording folk-rock group Arthur, Hurley, & Gottlieb. Mr. Hurley studied under Dr. James McCray at the University of South Florida, where he was pursuing his Bachelors of Music with an emphasis in orchestration. He has since done extensive composing and arranging work for the Walt Disney Company, and owns and operates Lone Pine Recording Studios in Orlando. There, he records and produces jazz, Christian, and Children's recording artists, cruise ship show backing tracks, the music for a children's TV show, and publisher demos.
One of Mr. Hurley's major interests is updating the music that accompanies classic hymn texts, which involves composing new melodies to existing words. He is also excited to have inherited his grandmother's 1872 reed pump organ, which actually works, although it sounds exactly the same no matter which stop is selected
