A consummate director and choreographer, Marilyn Magness has conceived and created the staging for hundreds of major theatrical events around the world including three Presidential Inaugurals, five Super Bowl Halftime Shows, the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular, Atlanta’s Olympic City entertainment, several national tours of Sesame Street Live, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade, as well as the Special Olympics and Senior Olympics Opening Ceremonies.
Throughout her freelance career, Marilyn's first priority has always been The Walt Disney Company where she has created numerous theme park spectaculars, special events, film premieres, international festivals, and national tours. She has staged a variety of children’s television shows including Disney’s New Mouseketeers, and she was the founder and director of That’s Entertainment, a children’s theater company in Scottsdale, Arizona and Whittier, California, where she wrote and directed musicals and musical revues for seven years.
Marilyn graduated summa cum laude from the University of Redlands in English Literature and Theater and holds a secondary teaching credential. She is an avid mountain bike enthusiast, honky-tonk piano player, and the world’s worst cook. She and producer Steve Carroll, her husband of thirty years, have two grown children.
Her first publication with Alfred is the wonderful musical Show Me the Money!, co-written with Alan Billingsley. Their collaborative relationship, now more than 20 years young, has taken them from Hooray for Hollywood, their first published musical revue, to national musical theater events and Las Vegas musical extravaganzas!
