Mari Schay teaches preschool through fifth grade general music, beginning band and orchestra, and an after-school marimba band at Earl Boyles Elementary School in Portland, Oregon. Earl Boyles is a high-poverty school with recent immigrants from all over the world. It houses a statewide pilot program for integrating preschool into the elementary school. Schay and her colleagues believe that investing in our youngest students and their families will create lifelong benefits.

Mari received her Bachelor of Music degree in Percussion Performance and her Master of Arts in Teaching from Willamette University and her Master of Music in Percussion Performance at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. She has done further work in Orff-Schulwerk and World Music Drumming.
