Lawrence Henry is originally from the Detroit area. He received a BME and MME from Northern Michigan University and did post graduate work at the University of Kansas.
His 40 years as a professional performer, composer/arranger and educator has given him broad knowledge in the music business.
After a decade of University teaching, his experience stretches from Director of Jazz Studies, University Marching Band and Symphonic Band Director, Instructor of Applied Percussion, and Chairman of a Music Merchandising Program. Mr. Henry has 24 years of public school experience ranging from beginning band to Director of Instrumental Music in Kansas City.
Compositions by Mr. Henry range from the musical stage to the marching field. High schools and colleges throughout the country have played his compositions for band. As a performer, Mr. Henry’s double major of applied woodwinds and percussion, and extensive experience on the piano have enabled him to perform with some of the top musical organizations in the world. From symphony orchestra work, the musical pit, or a smoky jazz club, Mr. Henry maintains an active performance and conducting schedule.
