Kathryn Kinnard
began piano lessons at the age of four and violin lessons at the age of ten. At
the age of fourteen, she won the Young Performers Contest for her division and
performed a piano solo on the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra's concert program.
She is a graduate of the University of Tennessee, where she studied violin with
William Starr. Ms. Kinnard has also attended violin pedagogy classes under the
direction of Kay Sloan at Stevens Point, Wisconsin and Janet Bogart at Kalamazoo
College in Michigan.
Ms. Kinnard has played in the Knoxville Symphony, the
St. Louis Philharmonic, and the Elkhart Symphony, and has taught at the Music
Academy at Indiana University South Bend. Currently, she makes her home in Knoxville,
Tennessee where she teaches violin.
