Jonny Priano is a music educator at the Wilmington Area School District in western Pennsylvania where he leads five choirs at the high school and middle school levels. A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Jonny earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from Grove City College in 2007, and he graduated Cum Laude with High Honors in Music. His concentrated instrument was the piano and he also studied voice with choral director and compositional mentor Dr. Douglas A. Browne. Jonny has composed sacred and secular choral music for many choirs across the United States and his music has enjoyed performances in Europe and Asia. Most recently, he was commissioned by the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra to compose a choral piece for their “Singing City” concert. This piece, “Sing as One,” is published with Alfred Music. Jonny has performed with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra as a member of the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh's Professional Core and is the pianist at New Life Baptist Church in New Wilmington, PA. He also serves as an accompanist for local high school festivals and choir concerts. He is currently working under the tutelage of Dr. Hae-Jong Lee on a Master of Music Performance degree with a focus on Choral Conducting and Vocal Performance at the Dana School of Music.
