Jay Wanamaker

Jay Wanamaker is a composer, teacher and music industry veteran. He has authored over 50 publications including educational articles, music textbooks, method books, educational videos and DVDs. Jay has instructed numerous marching bands for events including 1984 Olympic Opening Ceremonies, Pan Am Games, Special Olympics, Super Bowl XXIII, Liberty Weekend and the McDonald's All-American High School Band.

Jay served on the music faculty of the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music where he conducted the USC Percussion Ensemble & USC Trojan Marching Band Drum line. He also was a music editor for the Alfred Music Publishing Company. His Final Rudimental drum solo was featured in the hit movie, Drumline.

Jay served a 15-year tenure with Yamaha as Assistant General Manager of Yamaha Band & Orchestral Division and Vice President/General Manager of the Yamaha Pro Audio Combo Division. He currently is employed as Senior Vice President of Guitar Center.

He served on the Percussive Arts Society Board of Directors and was the chairman of the PAS International Drum Rudiment Committee and the Marching Percussion Committee.  

Jay holds a Master of Management degree from Aquinas College in Michigan , Master of Music degree from the University of Kansas and a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the Crane School of Music at State University of New York at Potsdam.
