Alfred Author-Gloria Kiester

Gloria J. Kiester, Professor Emerita of St. Olaf College, collected the songs for the Games Children Sing books during sabbaticals in Japan, China, and India. She has also contributed songs to the Silver Burdett and Macmillan series texts, co-authored the MENC Strategies for Teaching High School General Music (ISBN 1-56545-085- X), and contributed to the MENC Strategies for Teaching Music 5-8, Performance Standards for Music K-12, Syllabi for Music Methods Courses and the Music Educators Journal. She has written Stories of the Kiester Family 1400 - 2000, (ISBN 978-1-4507-1105-0), 471 pages of songs, games, recipes and photos with emphasis on personal lives and values- the story of many immigrants, their ancestors and descendants. She has also authored dozens of articles, many on music advocacy, including Teaching Music for Feelingful Intelligence. She has taught all levels from K-12, as well as college courses in music education and Asian music. In 1998, she was elected to the Minnesota Music Educators Hall of Fame.
