Dr. Charles "Bud" Caputo is currently a part-time elementary string teacher for the Fairfax County Public Schools in northern Virginia. He recently formed the Washington Jazz String Project, which is a professional jazz string orchestra that draws on the traditions of the contemporary big band jazz ensemble. While maintaining an active trombone studio, he is a freelance performer in the D.C. area and serves as adjunct professor on the campus of Montgomery College in Rockville, Maryland. He has taught graduate music education courses and jazz ensemble at the Catholic University of America. A frequent guest conductor and active adjudicator, Dr. Caputo has degrees from Catholic University, Manhattan School of Music, and State University of New York at Potsdam. He was the instrumental music supervisor for the Montgomery County Public Schools in Rockville, Maryland, from 1983 through May 1999.
