Dan Schwartz is widely known throughout the U.S. as a choral composer
and arranger. Over 100 of his chorals have been published through Alfred
Publishing, Carl Fischer, Hal Leonard, Warner Bros. and other various publishing
houses. Mr. Schwartz received his professional diploma from Teachers College,
Columbia University and has pursued doctoral studies at Teachers College
as well.
Mr. Schwartz, has 32 years experience as public school teacher, college
instructor, clinician, adjudicator and professional pianist. During this
period of time, he founded and directed the Jersey City State College Jazz/Show
Choir and Manhattan School of Music Jazz Choir. He has presented teacher
workshops at many colleges and universities including Villanova and Westminster
Choir College. He joined the summer faculty of Central Connecticut State
University from 1988 until 1995. Mr. Schwartz was the past National Chair
of ACDA Jazz/Show Choir Committee from 1983-1995.
In addition to his past activities, he has managed to find time to have
many columns published in the Choral Journal and is the leader of
the Dan Schwartz Trio (piano, bass, drums) appearing in various New Jersey
clubs and concerts. He is currently a member of the American Federation
of Musicians, IAJE, MENC, ACDA and ASCAP, of which he has been the recipient
of seven ASCAP Music Awards.
