Carolyn McCall started learning violin in John Kendall's Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville (SIUE) Suzuki violin program in 1966. She received her undergraduate degree in music from the University of Illinois and a master's degree in violin performance from SIUE. She has lived and taught in Austria, Wisconsin and Illinois. She was a Suzuki parent to her two children, now grown. From 1986 until 2006 she taught violin, viola and music & movement at workshops and institutes nationally and internationally. She has published over thirty articles and the book Group Lessons for Suzuki Violin and Viola
(Summy-Birchard/Alfred Music Publishing Co.). She was Coordinator of the 2004 Suzuki Association of the Americas Conference. She currently directs Goshen Suzuki Strings in Edwardsville, IL.
