Carol Kelley is the Choral Music Teacher at Chehalem Valley Middle School in Newberg, Oregon. She is also a professional accompanist for numerous school groups and musical theater productions. A native of Portland, she received her B.A. degree in Music Education form George Fox University, graduating magna cum laude with a triple emphasis in vocal performance, piano performance, and composition. She also studied piano with Istvan Nadas and composition with Ted Nichols. While still in high school and college, she won numerous awards in vocal, piano and songwriting contests. In addition to Alfred Music Publishing, Carol's choral compositions have been published by several other major music publishing companies.
Since 1992, Carol has been an Artist Associate for World Vision, promoting child sponsorship through solo concert ministry. Her performances have included appearances at the Oregon State Fair, Portland's Memorial Coliseum, Focus on the Family, Oregon and Colorado state capitols, the Colorado Music Educators Association, TV appearances, and a concert tour in Central America. Her solo CD has aired on radio stations across the Pacific Northwest. Carol is also a church pianist, vocalist and worship leader. She writes contemporary Christian songs, worship music, and piano solos in addition to choral compositions, and is a member of both MENC and ASCAP.
Carol and her family (husband Dave and four children) returned to Oregon in 1996 after living overseas, in Southern California and in Colorado.
