Brian S. Story (b.1955, Cleveland, OH) has been working for Belwin Publications (a division of Alfred) as an arranger/composer under the pen name of Brian Scott since 1994. He received his B.S. in Music Education and his Masters of Music from Mansfield University (PA). As a composer, he has written for marching band, concert band, chorus and orchestra.
He has been a music educator since 1978 and beginning in 1986 has been teaching in the Canandaigua City Schools in Canandaigua, NY. At Canandaigua, his middle school and high school bands have received the highest ratings from the New York State School Music Association as well as at the Hochstein Band, Choral, and Orchestra Festival (Rochester, NY). He has also been an active clinician both with the New York State School Music Association and the New York State Band Directors Association. He has served as a guest conductor and adjudicator for numerous organizations and festivals.
Mr. Story is an active performer as an instrumentalist and vocalist. He has been a member of Rochesters (NY) vocal ensembles Madrigalia and Musica Spei. He is also the conductor of the Finger Lakes Concert Band. He created and is the Executive Producer for the Scholastic Arts Spotlight Program in collaboration with WROC TV (Rochester, NY CBS affiliate), in which students who excel in the arts (music, theater, dance and visual arts) are recognized bi-weekly with a three minute news story. He is responsible for bringing the satellite campus of the Hochstein School of Music and Dance to Canandaigua, NY in affiliation with the Canandaigua City Schools. Mr. Story shares his love for music with his family, as his wife Amy is the Choral Director at Canandaigua Academy.
