Boyd Bacon is in his eleventh year at Nebraska Wesleyan University in
Lincoln, and is serving as Director of Fine Arts at Westminster Presbyterian
Church. Prior to these positions, he has taught at Columbus Senior
High and Wahoo Public Schools (6-12). At NWU he directs the "Touch of
Class" Jazz Choir and the men's chorus. He also teaches first year music
theory and musicianship, studio voice and a class in arranging and instrumentation.
Mr. Bacon has publications which have filled commissions for compositions
and arrangements in band and choral from churches and schools in Nebraska,
Kansas and California.
He served as president for the Nebraska Choral Directors Association.
They honored him as first recipient of the Choral Director of the Year
Award. The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Teachers College Alumni Association
also honored him as an outstanding teacher. He received Nebraska Wesleyan's
1995 Exemplary Teacher Award, the first part-time teacher to be so named.
Mr. Bacon holds a B.M.E. degree in piano and a M.M. degree in composition,
both from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
