Benjamin Harlan is Dean, School of Church Music, at Southwestern Baptist
Theological Seminary (SBTS), Ft. Worth, TX. A widely published arranger
and composer, his choral, keyboard and handbell works are included in the
catalogs of a number of major music publishers.
Dr. Harlan graduated with a B.M. and M.M. from Baylor University and
received his D.M.A. from SBTS. He has received awards from ASCAP annually
since 1990. Dr. Harlan is a member of ASCAP, American Choral Directors
Association and the Southern Baptist Church Music Conference.
Positions Dr. Harlan has previously held include Associate Professor
of Church Music, New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary; Minister of
Music at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Shreveport, LA; and Minister of Music
and Youth, First Baptist Church, St. Francisville, LA.
Dr. Harlan lives in Ft. Worth, TX with his wife, Connie Lynn Harlan,
and three children: Katie Elizabeth, Emily Lynn and Christopher Garrett.
